POWYS, MID WALES NEAR THE BORDER WITH ENGLAND
PICTURE YOURSELF IN OUR POSITION... IN POWYS
With just 135,000 residents it is the most sparsely populated region in Wales and stretches from just below Snowdonia in the north to the Swansea Valley in the south; from near to the Irish Sea in the west to the English border regions of Shropshire and Herefordshire in the east. Over 2,000 square miles in total. A vast area, but nonetheless one served by a network of friendly, vibrant towns, villages and rural communities.
Primary care flourishes in Powys. It has to, as there are no district general hospitals in the county and the vast majority of health care is provided by those working within primary care and the community-based services. There is also a network of nine busy community hospitals in the county, where medical cover is provided mainly by GPs.
It’s all about team work in Powys. Pulling together is how we ensure as much care as possible is provided to patients locally avoiding wherever possible patients having to travel further afield.
A relaxed lifestyle it may be, however our approach to innovative health care is anything but. We’ve always got one eye on the future in Powys, eager to try new ways of providing effective, responsive services that best meet the needs of our patients.
A truly great county in which to live and work, Powys is often featured as being amongst the best places to live in the UK. The county has so much to offer within its borders, yet is still very accessible to major cities around its periphery such as Swansea, Cardiff, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool.
We currently have opportunities for GPs in the county. All are flexible and can be full-time, part-time, salaried or partnership positions. Salaried positions attract up to £120,000 per annum and re-location packages of up to £20,000 are available too. We welcome informal visits to the
area and can help make the necessary arrangements. So if you’d like to come and spend some time with us, our help to make this happen is only an email away.
