We are looking to recruit a number of enthusiastic and energetic Consultant Endocrinologists to lead the delivery of Specialist Diabetes, Endocrine and Obesity services across Worcestershire. The department aims to expand sub-specialty work and would welcome candidates with sub-specialist skills in thyroid disease, diabetic foot and renal disease, adolescent endocrinology and bariatric services.
The Trust has a strong multi-disciplinary diabetes team that works across the Worcestershire hospitals and the community. There is a longstanding reputation for delivering excellent structured education with both DAFNE and XPERT. We have nearly 250 patients on CSII therapy. Our team was one of the pilot Think Glucose sites, and is recognised for its innovative and proactive approach to inpatient care. A recent Society of Endocrinology peer review praised our service. Our bariatric service is provided by a full MDT that includes dedicated dieticians, three surgeons, a specialist nurse and support from a specialist clinical psychologist and radiologist.
The Trust has close links with the University of Birmingham and actively encourages participation in research.
You will contribute to the in-patient General (Internal) Medicine service and will participate in the on-call Consultant rota which is 1:12 at the Alexandra Hospital, Redditch and 1:14 at Worcestershire Royal Hospital. These commitments are likely to reduce as additional expansions to acute medical services occur.
You must possess full registration with a licence to practise with the General Medical Council and have completed higher training and be on the Specialist Register, or be within 6 months of obtaining CCT at the time of interview.
This post provides an exciting opportunity to work in a vibrant and motivated department. Potential applicants who wish to find out more should contact Dr Irfan Babar, Consultant Endocrinologist on 01905 763333.
