Consultant in Cellular Pathology with an interest in Dermatopathology
The Trust wishes to appoint a full time (10PAs) Consultant in Cellular Pathology with an interest in Dermatopathology. The post holder will work with the existing Consultant Histopathologists and Cytopathologists to provide a diagnostic and consultative service to the Belfast Health & Social Care Trust and the South Eastern Health & Social Care Trust.
Any applicant who is unable for personal reasons, to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post. If such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues. At present approximately 63,000 surgical pathology specimens and 11,000 diagnostic cytology specimens are reported per annum, increasing at a rate of approximately 2% annually.
The department encourages and facilitates subspecialisation in line with the needs of the service, however this is not a requirement and Pathologists who wish to cover a broad range of practice are welcomed.
There is no requirement to participate in the Cervical Cytology, Fine Needle Aspiration clinic or autopsy rota however candidates who wish to participate in these rotas will be accommodated.
