Fixed Contract

We are very pleased to have developed four exciting and innovative posts that will work two days within our medical education team and three days in a clinical setting. The clinical component of the role has not yet been decided because it is our intention to match the successful candidate to a suitable work area, encompassing their special areas of interest - although we would be particularly pleased to receive applications from colleagues working in mental health services for older people. All posts will be for one year fixed term initially with a view to creating substantive roles once the posts are developed.

The medical education component of the role will comprise two days each week, where predominantly the successful candidates will be involved in the delivery, support and assessment of medical students from our three medical schools that we partner - soon to be 4 with the establishment of Sunderland medical school. There will also be opportunities to support the faculty of medical education on key projects. The Trust places great emphasis on medical education and is highly ranked each year in the GMC trainee and trainer surveys and these roles will further support the excellent work in medical education.

Three posts will be based in our Teesside and Durham and Darlington localities and a further post will be based in Yorkshire, with work predominantly around York. There will be access to our local in house training development programme, which we believe was why the Trust was rated the No 1 provider across all specialities in the UK for trainer support in the GMC trainer survey. Each successful candidate will also have the opportunity to gain a sponsored place on a postgraduate clinical/medical education programme of study.

We are seeking role models for medical students who can also help inspire the next generation of psychiatrists. If you have energy, drive and a passion for mental health, please contact Dr Lisa Kwentoh, Senior Undergraduate Tutor on 01642 838256, or Dawn Carter, Nurse Lead on 01642 838155.

An attractive relocation package and study leave budget is available and we can also help support candidates through CESR.

Tees, Esk & Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust, a multi-award winning Trust and voted one of the top 10 best places to work in the NHS, is a well managed and financially stable foundation trust with an excellent track record of providing high quality mental health and learning disability services to 2 million people living in County Durham, the Tees Valley, North Yorkshire and York and Selby.

Please note that all sections of the application form must be fully completed.
