Locum Consultant in Palliative Care
Applications are invited for the post of Locum Consultant in Palliative Medicine at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
This is an 8 PA parental leave locum post in a well-established and innovative multi-disciplinary palliative care service caring for patients attending and admitted to Addenbrooke’s Hospital. The department also runs the Breathlessness Intervention Service and has developed Enhanced Supportive Care Clinics. Your primary responsibility will be providing palliative care as part of the team at Cambridge University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, with Speciality Lead, Dr Rosemary Wade.
The team is multi-professional, including a Psychologist, Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist, as well as Clinical Nurse Specialists, Palliative Medicine Consultants, Registrar and Administrative Support. The Palliative Care Department, based in Acute Medicine, works trust wide to deliver specialist palliative care to all adult patients, enables staff to improve care of patients and families affected with life threatening disease and to support the National End of Life Care agenda.
You will be fully registered with the GMC and have a CCT in Palliative Medicine or be within three months of award of CCT at the time of interview.
The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013). Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at time of application is required.
