Locum Specialty Doctor in Anaesthesia

6 months in the first instance

We seek a Locum Specialty Doctor within the Directorate of Anaesthesia, to join our supportive, forward thinking department, which offers opportunities for continued clinical development.

University Hospital Ayr has a complement of 15 Consultant Anaesthetists, supported by Associate Specialists, Specialty Doctors and 4 – 6 Specialty Trainees. Department interests include ultrasound regional anaesthesia, bariatric, vascular and clinical simulation. We have a dedicated clinical simulation suite on site.

ALS, ATLS and APLS courses are taught throughout the year, with an extensive commitment to undergraduate medical student teaching. The current RCOA SAS Educational Advisor is based within the Department.  The successful candidate will be supported and encouraged to develop within the role.

The T&Cs are those determined by the New Specialty Doctor Grade (Scotland) 2008, offered on a 10 PA basis. 2 APAs may be available as required to meet the needs of the service.

Appropriately experienced applicants must have Full GMC Registration with a current Licence to Practise, and have completed at least 4 years full-time postgraduate training, of which at least 2 years will have been within Anaesthesia.
