Part Time (0.6 WTE)
Applications are invited for the above post at Barnsley Hospital. The successful applicant will join the current post holders in supporting the rheumatology team in providing rheumatology services to a population of approximately 220,000. Any consultant who is unable for personal reasons to work full time will be eligible to be considered for the post. If such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with Consultant colleagues.
The department is well supported with an experienced Associate Specialist, 1.5 junior doctors, three rheumatology nurse practitioners, physiotherapy and occupational therapy teams and a full complement of nursing and clerical staff.
This post is a new consultant position. Rheumatology forms part of the Integrated General and Emergency Medicine Division of over 30 consultants who cooperate closely in-patient care.
The post is a 6 PA post, including pro-rated SPA, with no requirement for on-call. Applicants must have full GMC registration, MRCP (or equivalent) and CCT in Rheumatology (or be within six to work in this friendly but challenging Trust.
Excellent organisational and service development skills are required to meet the challenges of local and national waiting time targets, high quality service delivery, reduction in new to follow up ratios and devolution of care to primary care services where appropriate. An appropriate specialist sub-interest would be encouraged. As an associate teaching hospital to the University of Sheffield Medical School and an organiser of PACES examinations excellent teaching skills are also required.
