Isle of Man - Consultant Careers


We are looking to appoint a driven, enthusiastic and reliable Consultant in Anaesthesia to join our Anaesthetic Department at Nobles Hospital in the Isle of Man.

We believe the Island is a great place to live and work and within this diverse role you will have the opportunity to provide anaesthetic services for all the major specialities (excluding neuro and cardiac surgery), plus care of patients in our ICU. In addition, our team also provide a Consultant-led pain service and provide an anaesthetic service in our obstetric theatre and epidural service. 

The Island also provides an Air ambulance service for the transfer of critically ill patients to the UK and this post provides an opportunity to be trained to provide anaesthetic support for these transfers. We are looking for someone who is keen to be trained in new areas and will work together with our Anaesthetic team to provide first class service across the Isle of Man hospital.

Relocation expenses and the Isle of Man NI scheme

For this post we also offer interview expenses and a relocation package of up to £7,000 based on receipts. Housing Assistance is also available where the Department will pay the difference between your current mortgage/rent bill, and that of your new accommodation on the Isle of Man, up to a maximum of £250 per month.

The Isle of Man is also offering a National Insurance Holiday Scheme which allows newly employed, relocated or returning residents to apply for a refund on their National Insurance contributions for their first year of living or returning to the Isle of Man, with refunds capped at £4,000. About the Post

Newly opened in 2003 Noble’s Hospital is the Islands’ only District General Hospital, situated on the outskirts of Douglas, the capital of the Isle of Man. It is equipped to the very latest standards with a total complement of 317 beds; the site also houses a combined education and training centre equipped with a comprehensive library, study rooms, lecture theatre and a state of the art simulation suite. 

You will join 14 other Consultants and 2 Specialty Doctors to provide resident on-call cover for Anaesthetics, as well as general anaesthetic duties. The current job plan comprises 10 PAs which is made up of 7.5 PAs of DCC, which includes work undertaken out of hours, plus 2.5 PAs of SPA.  Additional PA’s are available on appointment (subject to job plan review).
