Clinical Research Fellow in Critical Care
St Helens & Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and Manchester Metropolitan University have joined forces to offer an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated trainee in Critical Care to join a research-driven, education-oriented, dynamic, multi-professional clinical and research team.
The role is funded by a joint collaboration between St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (Whiston Hospital) and Manchester Metropolitan University. The project will involve the identification and validation of a prognostic stratification model for Sepsis and/or Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) within specific subpopulations of patients. The aim is to identify clinical parameters and haematological biomarkers, to be combined to aid in predicting severity of patients with Sepsis and/or Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). This role is for a medically qualified trainee (ST and above). The appointee will be employed as a Clinical Research Fellow, with approximately 70% clinical, 30% research time (the exact time allocation may vary).
This post will provide the successful applicant with excellent exposure to Critical Care practice and provide opportunities to enhance their research and leadership skills. The post-holder will also have the opportunity to develop a broad knowledge of Critical Care, and contribute to teaching and training.
