Applications are invited for the substantive, full time post of Consultant Histopathologist dealing with Head & Neck, to commence as soon as possible.
The post holder is expected to have, or to develop, Head & Neck pathology as an area of special interest. This includes thyroid pathology and relevant non-gynaecological cytology. Depending on the training pathway, the interests of the appointee and the needs of the Department, the appointee will be given the opportunity to develop at least one other area of expertise e.g. dermatopathology. The advertised post will be based at the Queen’s Medical Centre Campus of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.
The Histopathology service provides a diagnostic service for Nottinghamshire. Queen’s Medical Centre is the major trauma centre for the East Midlands. The department deals with complex head/neck surgical specimen referred from all over the region.
The appointee will join a team of two Head & Neck Pathologists (one of them also undertakes Dermatopathology) and two full time Dermatopathologists. The newly appointed histopathologist will deal with biopsies, resections and non –gynae cytopathology and help with weekly MDTs. BMS staff contribute to specimen dissection in both specialities.
An opportunity will exist to undertake Category 2 work in the form of post mortem examinations for Her Majesty’s Coroner.
You should be in possession of the FRCPath (or equivalent), be on the appropriate specialist register of the GMC/GDC, and have appropriate training in Head & Neck pathology.
