We are pleased to be able to invite applications for the appointment of a Specialty Doctor in Stroke Medicine within the Wye Valley NHS Trust.
Stroke services at Wye Valley Trust deliver a high quality service and are currently rated as a B nationally (SSNAP). We are looking for a committed Specialty Doctor to join our team to support Stroke services in Herefordshire. The service is delivered via a strong Multi-Disciplinary approach and the successful candidate will be expected to work alongside the team to support this approach.
Wye Valley NHS Trust is responsible for the provision of acute and community services. Central to this is Hereford County Hospital, a modern rural District General Hospital opened in 2002 which is supported by four Community Hospitals and Community Services. The Trust serves a population of around 230,000 from Herefordshire and surrounding counties.
The hospital has undergone significant restructuring of its medical services in recent years and operates an acute medical model with the majority of medical specialties on site including Acute Medicine, Gastroenterology, Cardiology, Respiratory, Endocrinology, Stroke and Geriatrics. There is regional support from Neurology and Renal medicine in Birmingham.
The stroke service is configured as a combined inpatient unit on a single site for HASU/ASU/RSU with early supported discharge and a stroke specific community rehabilitation team.
The post is advertised as a whole time 10PA post, although less-than-full time applications or job sharing arrangements may be considered. Additional Programmed Activities may be offered.
