St. Helens and Knowsley NHS Trust seeks applicants for two Clinical fellow posts in Acute Medicine at SHO/ CT 1-2 level, commencing in August 2019 for a fixed term period of 6 or 12 months.

The posts will be based on the Acute Medical Unit at the Trust’s acute site at Whiston hospital, Warrington Road, Prescot, L35 5DR. The Acute Medical Unit consists of 56 beds with a 4 bedded area for Enhanced Care provision for patients. There is also co-located male and female trolley assessment area for Assessment as well as provision of Same Day Emergency Care. We also provide follow up for patients in the AMU Outpatient Clinic.

We have a team of 10 Acute Medical Consultants as well as a number of specialty consultants providing sessions working on the unit alongside an excellent large team of motivated and enthusiastic doctors, ANPs, nurses, HCAs, pharmacists and operational managers.

We are proud of our supportive and professional environment which offers a wealth of opportunity to learn, become involved in or lead QIPs and be part of a successful team delivering high standard care to our patients.

These posts offer experience of Acute Medicine in a highly-functional AMU and the opportunity to gain a specialist skill with allocated time incorporated in the job plan, if the successful candidates so wish. Examples of specialist kills include procedural skill training (FICE/USS), simulation training within the trust, Education, Leadership or Management with a budget for courses. We would, however, be happy to consider and discuss other suggestions from any suitable candidates. The post holders will be required to work to a rota comprising a mixture of 9am-5pm day shifts, twilight (1pm-10pm or 5pm-2am) shifts and weekend shifts.

Applicants must hold Full Registration with the GMC and Fitness to Practice.

These posts are subject to an Enhanced DBS with barring adults.
