Are you passionate about road safety and interested in using your medical knowledge and experience to improve our standards for driving?
The DVLA, on behalf of the Secretary of State for Transport, is looking for GMC registered consultants who have a licence to practice and who have an outstanding record of achievement, personal credibility and senior level experience, to chair our medical advisory panels.
The panels help maintain and improve road safety by providing the Secretary of State for Transport, the Department for Transport and the DVLA with expert advice about a wide range of medical conditions and their impact on driving.
This unique opportunity will provide you with a set of fascinating challenges. These will not only widen your professional development in the field of setting driving standards and shaping policy, but also see you work with other leading experts in both your own and related fields.
We are seeking to appoint Panel Chairs for the following panels:
- Alcohol, Drugs and Substance Misuse
- Disorders of the Cardiovascular System
- Diabetes Mellitus
- Psychiatric Disorders
- Disorders of the Nervous System
- Visual Disorders
Successful chair applicants would need to commit to a minimum of six days of work per year – two days for panel meetings, two days for meeting preparation and an additional two days for chair meetings. We are looking to recruit into these panels for an initial term of up to 5 years. This is a real opportunity to add to your professional portfolio, share your valued expertise with members and contribute to maintaining road safety.
