Trauma Service: RPH is the designated provider of major trauma services for adults in Western Australia, treating approximately 80 per cent of the State’s major trauma cases. More than 5000 trauma patients are admitted annually, with over 700 of these patients classed as major trauma.
The service provides state-of-the-art multidisciplinary emergency trauma and critical care for patients suffering complex injuries and is recognised with formal Level 1 Trauma Verification from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
Position Profile: We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and enthusiastic individual to the position of Consultant - Surgeon - General Surgery (Trauma) at RPH. You will, as part of a multidisciplinary team, provide specialist medical/surgical services to trauma patients. The position promotes patient quality and safety and provides leadership, training, supervision and education, where relevant, for doctors in training, Health Service Medical Practitioners and other health workers in collaboration with other Consultants and the Divisional / Clinical Director / Head of Department. You will also work within the scope of clinical practice as defined and recommended by the Health Service Credentialing Committee.
Area Profile: RPH is Perth’s inner city, 450-bed tertiary adult hospital and part of the Royal Perth Bentley Group. Home to the State Major Adult Trauma Service, RPH offers tertiary-level emergency medicine and mental health, complex and elective surgical care, and specialist medical services. It is also a premier teaching hospital and contributes to innovation and excellence in medical research and patient care.
