Applications are invited for new Education Fellow posts in the Emergency Department (ED) of Hull Royal Infirmary. These one-year posts are ideal for someone who has previous experience in EM and is looking to develop their interest in education and training. The post is 66% shop floor on the appropriate rota and 34% dedicated to developing an educational portfolio.

There is also scope to develop expertise in simulation and to participate and lead in-house multidisciplinary simulation as part of our simulation team. This would suit someone at the end of core EM training or for someone in Higher Training in EM.

The new ED in Hull was opened in 2016 and boasts a state of the art 10 bay resus room, separate dedicated PEM facility, 24 glass fronted majors cubicles and no corridor waits for patients over the last winter.

The ED is very busy, seeing 142,000 patients per annum and is a designated Major Trauma Centre for adults. The medical team receives great support from a dedicated consultant team, who are well regarded in trainee surveys for providing support, encouragement and developmental feedback.

Hull is a great city to spend some time in, as those who have graduated from Hull University attest when surveyed. Accommodation is reasonably priced and the 2017 City of Culture experience highlighted the wide range of cutting edge arts and entertainment that have always been going on here. There is also a beautiful coastline and countryside to explore, with great links to Europe.

During this year, the successful applicant will work alongside lead educational consultants and have the opportunity to develop and lead on training programmes for junior doctors, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Physician Associates and medical students. There will also be funding towards a Health Professions Education qualification apart from study leave.

This vacancy within the trust ideal for CT1+ and salary will reflect this, on experience and level

So, what are you waiting for?! A year in Hull makes perfect sense!
