- Full Time
The Royal Liverpool & Broadgreen University Hospitals Trust wish to appoint a full time Consultant Surgeon (10 PAs), with a special interest in the surgical management of Bladder Cancer. It is recognised that mentoring will be required initially and in addition to technical support from within the department there is an established mentoring scheme for new appointments across the Trust.
This hospital is a designated Urological Cancer Centre with specialist MDT’s for prostate, bladder, kidney and testis cancer. The pelvic cancer team has a joint clinic and specialist MDT with oncologists from the regional
Radiotherapy Centre at Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology. The Hospital has excellent interventional and imaging radiology support and an on- site nuclear medicine department.
The Urological pelvic cancer surgeons work closely with both the local colorectal surgeons and the gynae-oncologist surgeons at the Royal Liverpool Women’s Hospital and collaborate in pelvic exenteration surgery.
This post will be based in the Royal Liverpool University hospital, with outpatient activity at the purpose built Urology centre on the Broadgreen Hospital site. In time, in-patients service will move the new Royal Liverpool University Hospital on which building has recommenced.
You must be on, or within 6 months of entry to, the specialist registrar, have the FRCS (Urol) and be fully registered with the GMC. A higher degree will be an advantage.
