Barts Health NHS Trust is one of the largest and most respected teaching hospital trusts in Britain as well as being the home of London’s Air Ambulance Service. The Trust incorporates St Bartholomew’s Hospital, The Royal London and Mile End Hospitals, Newham University Hospital and Whipps Cross University Hospital.
Newham University Hospital, as part of Barts Health NHS Trust, is a 350-bed hospital that serves one of Britain’s most diverse, fastest growing and youngest populations. The Radiology department in Newham University Hospital is a busy, modern and well equipped department with 7 fully digital general X-ray rooms (DR) and 1 Fluoroscopy screening room, six ultrasound rooms, a state-of-the-art 128 slice dual source CT scanner, a new state-of-the-art wide-bore 1.5 Tesla MRI scanner, a digital mammography unit equipped with biopsy module, and Nuclear medicine services. We are a completely paperless department with a cross-trust HIS, PACS, RIS and VR system for reporting.
This post is for a Consultant Radiologist at Barts Health NHS Trust with a sub-speciality interest. We are looking for a highly enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our existing team of radiologists to help deliver the service and to support the active training programme. The post will be primarily based at Newham University Hospital, but trust-wide cross cover might be needed.
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate excellent up-to-date general radiology skills, as well as having a sub-speciality interest. They should be a team player, will need to demonstrate professional excellence and the ability to deliver compassionate and efficient patient care in a timely manner. They will need to agree levels of activity and throughput with the Imaging Clinical Director and Imaging General Manager. These activity levels will be aligned to the increasing activity and demand of the radiology department.
Research and teaching activities are encouraged and supported by the active academic department and there is a highly successful training programme with 35 registrars.
