An exciting opportunity to increase public health capacity in the NHS has arisen across the North East and North Cumbria.  The local Integrated Care System (ICS) is large, covering the whole of the North East and North Cumbria and is committing to appoint three Permanent Public Health Consultants.  They will each work in one of three NHS Foundation Trusts, whilst also supporting the development of the system approach to population health management.

We are therefore looking to appoint enthusiastic Consultants in Public Health with strong technical and inter-personal skills, who will be able to provide population health insight into our planning and delivery of care and support the delivery of the best value services. The post holders will provide high level public health expertise into the development of a range of projects, with scope to include in-depth development of individual clinical services through to high level horizon scanning of future Trust activity to address health inequalities, service models and clinical innovation.

Applicants should identify their preferred choice of Foundation Trust from the list below in the additional information section of the application form:

  • South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust
  • County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust in partnership with Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust
  • North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust

The post holders will work collaboratively with their peers to support the development of the North East and North Cumbria population health offer by working with NECS for one Programmed Activity per week during the first 12 months. The postholders will be based within the Foundation Trust for the remainder of the week and full time after 12 months.

These are permanent NHS posts with NECS taking the lead in recruitment and employment for the first 12 months.  Further details are available to interested candidates.
