Applications are invited for whole-time or part-time consultant.

This is a replacement post for a consultant nephrologist to work within Nephrology, part of the Renal, Respiratory, Cardiac and Vascular Clinical Management Group, University Hospitals of Leicester, currently based at Leicester General Hospital. The appointee will be part of a team of 12 nephrologists providing a comprehensive service for nephrology and renal transplantation.

This post will allow the appointee to develop their clinical skills and experience in a hospital with a track record of innovative service delivery, excellence in training and clinical research.  The appointee will provide clinical duties including care of in-patients with kidney disease, general nephrology outpatients and on call duties.  This post will have a particular focus on providing enhanced nephrology input into the inpatient and outpatient care of patients undergoing kidney transplantation.  The appointee will also take a lead in the departments’ undergraduate education provision.

Applicants must already be on the GMC Specialist register or be eligible for entry to the GMC Specialist register via Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) within 6 months of the interview date or via a Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR).

The successful appointee will be expected to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and clinical audit. They will be required to undertake management duties and work in a multidisciplinary team.

The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust consists of three acute teaching hospitals serving the population of Leicestershire. It is fully committed to Continuing Medical Education for consultants.
