Consultant Psychiatrist in Forensic Intellectual Disabilities

Salary: Pay Scale: £77,913 - £105,042 (dependent upon service)


Post: Full Time (1wte) Inpatient Secure Learning Disabilities Services


Base: Brooklands, Brooklands Way, Coleshill Road, Marston Green, Birmingham B37 7HH


Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust is one of the country’s largest specialist providers of Learning Disability services, hosts the largest Training scheme in the country for Higher Trainees in Intellectual Disability Psychiatry, and is a provider of Mental Health and Community services in Coventry, Warwickshire and Solihull.


The trust is actively engaged in ‘Transforming Care – Next Steps’ and has driven service development nationally, with Coventry and Warwickshire being part of a fast track site and hence benefitting from service development mainly based in the community which the secure service has been supporting.


This replacement post is primarily an inpatient post with responsibility for 15 beds within the medium secure and low secure male services, although the secure service also includes female secure services. Two other full time consultants work in the secure services. Consultants in the service also undertake assessments of individuals referred to the service and a limited number of gatekeeping assessments. This post is based at Brooklands Birmingham which in addition to inpatient learning disability secure services has inpatient learning disability acute assessment treatment services and inpatient child and adolescent learning disability services. There is an active peer group of consultants based on site.


Applicants are required to be on the Specialist Register for Psychiatry, have full registration and licence to practice with the GMC, have a CCT in Psychiatry (or be within 6 months of obtaining one at the date of interview), be eligible or have AC section 12 approval, have some experience in Intellectual Disability Psychiatry and Forensic/Secure services.


You will need to have a valid driving licence and access to an appropriate means of independent transport commensurate with travelling required to fulfil the role.
