Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist
Sussex Partnership Trust provides mental health, learning disability, prison healthcare and nursing home services to the people of Brighton and Hove, East Sussex and West Sussex and parts of Hampshire and is a Teaching Trust in association with Brighton and Sussex Medical School. We are part of a wider health and social care network and we work in partnership with our staff, volunteers, education and other agencies. Close links are being developed with the universities and medical school and there is a thriving Sussex wide training scheme in psychiatry.
The Forensic Healthcare Service has extensive experience of providing forensic mental health and prison healthcare across Sussex and we use that experience to continuously improve and develop our services. These include Low Secure Services (Chichester, West Sussex and Hellingly East Sussex), Medium Secure Services (Hellingly, East Sussex), Police and Court Liaison and Diversion Services across Sussex, Primary care and mental health at HMP Lewes and HMP Ford and our ever developing community forensic outreach services. Our secure services were rated as ‘Good’ during the Trust CQC inspection in 2016 with ‘outstanding’ for effectiveness and the Trust was rated as 'Good' with 'Outstanding' for care in 2017.
We were also successful in a bid to be one of 3 national sites to pilot the new Forensic Mental Health Community Service Model (NHSE 2018) across our Forensic Services.
As a result of reviewing medical staffing we are now looking for an additional Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist or Consultant Psychiatrist with special interest in Forensic mental health to join our Low Secure inpatient team and prison healthcare team at HMP Lewes. The successful candidate will be demonstrably committed to the provision of excellent, leading edge clinical care. You will join our team of 12 Consultant Forensic and general adult Psychiatrists.
