NHS Grampian would like to invite applicants to apply for an exciting opportunity in ED at Dr Grays Hospital, Elgin.

Not embracing the whole going abroad thing after FY2, come and do some EM in a department that puts you in charge of your own professional development. Then spend the rest of your time doing QIPs, paeds, teaching, scanning and general CV buffing. You can pursue your own interests for your non-clinical time with a FRCEM supervisor and at the rate we churn out international poster presentations you should have a few under your belt by the time you are done. All our CDFs have gone onto ACCS posts if that is the way you are headed and our GMC feedback speaks for itself.

At the same time you will be coming to work in a department that has a family feel (we get a 6 course meal on xmas day!), great facilities (Ultrasound, LUCAS, working opthalmoscopes,!), teaching from FRCEM examiners, US trainers, pre-hospital care consultants & examiners and most importantly fabulous colleagues that make coming to work a lot of fun.  We don’t do trolleys in corridors and 4 hour breaches are a bit like unicorns.  Come for a visit and speak to our CDFs about work & play (you may be surprised about our climate and rainfall!).  Take a look at our GMC training survey which we are very proud about to show we mean what we say.

The Clinical Developmental Fellowship (CDF) programme is suitable for trainees who have recently completed (Aug '18 or Aug'19) the UK Foundation Programme, Core Surgical Training or Core Medical Training.

The CDF programme comprises of Clinical experience and in addition you will be assigned to an area of developmental interest in collaboration with the University of Aberdeen: such as Medical Education and Simulation training, Quality Improvement, Research and Development, or Leadership and Management. These activities will be supported through a mentorship programme.

Successful candidates will be contracted for 40 hours per week – 28 hours per week on average undertaking clinical activities; 12 hours per week on average will be protected for developmental activities and there will be an out-of-hours commitment. The post holder will be paid at ST level based on their previous experience. A banding supplement relevant to the OOH component of their rotas will also be received.

The post is of high educational value and supported by the University of Aberdeen Medical School. However, it is not recognised for training by the Postgraduate Dean.

Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC is required. For more information visit www.gmc-uk.org
