Consultant Community Paediatrician
Following recent retirements we are pleased to offer two Consultant Community Paediatrician posts within Swansea Bay Health Board. Swansea Bay Health board has been created following the transfer of Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend to Cwm Taf. The Health board is responsible for the population of Swansea and Neath Port Talbot, approximate population 300,000.
Swansea is a unique blend of vibrant city, stunning coastline and diverse countryside. It sits in the sandy 5 mile stretch of Swansea Bay beach and is a great base for exploring the best of South West Wales. In addition, Cardiff the capital city of Wales is a 45 minute drive. Swansea has a flourishing cultural scene and is the gateway to the Gower Peninsula, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with stunning scenery and unspoilt beaches. Walking, fishing, surfing, canoeing, water-skiing and sailing flourish. Walkers and ramblers are spoilt for choice, and the magnificent “Worms Head” snaking out to sea is one of the finest views in the world.
We offer two posts, one based at Neath Port Talbot hospital and one based at Singleton hospitals. Community Paediatrics is based in dedicated children’s centres on each site, with close links to Education and Social services, they provide an all-round community service for children aged 0-19 years with additional needs and their families. Both centres are supported with multi-disciplinary teams of therapists, school nursing, health visiting and secretarial support. The department has close links with the acute paediatric team based at Morriston hospital, and provides highly rated training. There will be opportunities to specialise in areas such as neurodevelopmental, neuro-disability, safeguarding, enuresis and audiology. We offer flexible working arrangements and would encourage candidates who may be interested in full-time or part-time to express an interest.
