Consultant Psychiatrist CAMHS Community Eating Disorder Service

This vacancy for a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist in the CAMHS Community Eating Disorder Service (CEDS) is available from 1st September 2019 due to the retirement of the current post holder. It is a high quality, comprehensive community mental health service for children and young people experiencing Eating Disorders. It is a county wide service which has been in place for two and half years. The close working multi-disciplinary CEDS team meet their waiting time targets and are able to manage a high level of complexity and risk within the community. This is demonstrated by very low referral rates into specialist tier 4 provision.

The role is a 5 PA post which includes 1.5 SPA sessions. You will be working alongside Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist colleagues in CAMHS West, CAMHS East, Wessex House, CAMHS Liaison, National Deaf CAMHS and Forensic CAMHS.

In Somerset community CAMHS, waiting times are amongst the lowest nationally. In terms of both the percentage of young people seen within 6 weeks, and also the percentage waiting over 18 weeks, the CAMH service is the best performing in the country. Caseload levels per head of population and per clinical WTE are amongst the lowest (2017/18).

Life in Somerset offers an outstanding quality of life, with easy access to the moorland and coast, a thriving arts and entertainment scene and excellent transport links via the M5 to the nearby cities of Bristol and Exeter. Somerset has some of the region’s most reasonably priced housing and a range of high achieving state and private schools.
