Have you ever wondered how great it would be to walk away from the laboratory at the end of the day and 30 minutes later to be on your surf board riding the waves, or able to spend your weekends hiking or mountain biking in native bush.

For the pathologists working for Southern Community Laboratories in New Zealand this is not something they wonder about, depending which of our laboratories you are located in this is the reality.

Southern Community Laboratories is the sole provider of pathology services to primary care and the hospital sector for most of the South Island, and the entire Wellington region.  We have laboratories based in Dunedin, Christchurch, and Wellington.

Southern Community Laboratories is seeking applications from Chemical Pathologists to fill two positions in its network of Laboratories throughout New Zealand.

One roll is domiciled in Wellington our Capital City in the North Island.

The second role will be south island based in one of the two major cities.

The Chemical Pathologists provide clinical leadership for a wide-range of testing.  The roles includes laboratory leadership and directing of testing, review and validation of methods, oversight of result reporting,  liaison with referring practitioners,  review of internal quality control and external quality assurance schemes, and under- and post-graduate education.  There will be a requirement to participate in an out-of-hours roster.

In order to practise in New Zealand you will be a medical practitioner, registered or eligible for registration with the New Zealand Medical Council, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia, or be eligible for Fellowship within six months.  You will need to be highly motivated, able to develop strong working relationships with laboratory staff and clinicians, and capable of working with a supportive and dynamic team.

For further details, please send your curriculum vitae to Dr Arlo Upton (arlo.upton@sclabs.co.nz) if you are interested in the South Island role or to Dr Richard Steele (richard.steele@sclabs.co.nz) if you are interested in the Wellington based position.

Applications close 30 June 2019.
