London North West Healthcare NHS Trust and Hillingdon Hospital NHS Trusts are looking to recruit a forward thinking and dynamic Consultant Orthodontist. Applications are invited for this part time position for a Consultant Orthodontist to join the existing team based at Northwick Park Hospital, Harrow and Hillingdon Hospital, Uxbridge.
The successful applicant will join a Consultant led team working within a dedicated Orthodontic Department with 4 other Consultant Orthodontic colleagues and jointly with Maxillofacial Surgeons and Restorative Dentistry colleagues. Northwick Park Hospital maintains The Regional Maxillofacial Surgery and Orthodontic Department which serves 5 other spoke units. There are weekly orthognathic clinics and bi-monthly hypodontia-restorative clinics held at Northwick Park
The post consists of a combination of personal treatment, diagnostic and multidisciplinary sessions. Aspects of the post will involve supervision and training of specialist trainee registrars and post CCST grades on rotation from The Royal London Hospital. The training element takes place at Northwick park site. There is a close working relationship with maxillofacial surgeons allowing for weekly orthognathic clinics. The restorative dental service provides advice and treatment for the most severe hypodontia cases.
The Orthodontic Department at Northwick Park is co-located with the Maxillofacial Surgery Regional Unit. The department has five surgeries with open plan design to facilitate clinical supervision of trainees. The Department at Hillingdon Hospital is a combined Oral- Maxillofacial Surgery and Orthodontic department with very close working relationship with maxillofacial surgical colleagues providing high quality , efficient service to the local population.
The applicant must be on General Dental Council specialist register in Orthodontics, hold a Certificate of Accreditation in Orthodontics and completed a SAC approved minimum two years training in fixed term training appointment (FTTA), which follows on from the pre-CCST training period of three years or within 3 months of completion or equivalent for other EEA nationals.
The post holder will be expected to participate with Consultant colleagues to provide full clinical services in Orthodontics. We are seeking enthusiastic individuals who will participate in the development and expansion on the service and be involved in support of training Specialist Registrars and post CCST grades. The trusts are well located in North West London with London Transport links to the underground, buses and main lines into London , Marylebone, Euston, and Paddington stations.
