Consultant in Anaesthesia & Intensive Care Medicine
The Intensive Care Department provides countywide ICM support to 23 countywide intensive care beds split between the 15 bedded Worcestershire Royal Hospital and the 8 bedded Alexandra Hospital, Redditch.
Between them they admit approximately 1000 patients per annum, with a caseload which predominantly reflects the general surgical and medical workloads of the county, with additional focus on major urology, major maxillofacial and major vascular surgery.
Operationally the units are delivered according to GPICS standards, including a recently established follow-up clinic, are fully supported by critical care outreach and administrative teams, and are accompanied by a strong clinical governance structure.
The anaesthesia department provides services to four sites (Worcestershire Royal Hospital, Alexandra Hospital, Kidderminster Treatment Centre & Evesham Community Hospital), encompassing all major specialities with a strong countywide working ethos.
Again, clinical governance is fundamental to the operational delivery of anaesthetic services, and the department was proud to receive Anaesthesia Clinical Services Accreditation (ACSA) in October 2018, recognising 100% compliance with ACSA standards.
Both departments pride themselves on providing highly supportive working environments both for consultant colleagues and for trainees, for whom we endeavour to provide the highest quality training opportunities.
Potential applicants are encouraged to visit and to seek further details on the operational aspects of the departments. Candidates will also be considered for a further 6 month fixed term contract following the AAC interview.
