Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Respiratory Paediatrics at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro. This post is part of an exciting programme of replacement posts and a significant planned investment in the service to enable service redesign to strengthen paediatric cover.

There has been a long established paediatric respiratory service at RCHT offering diagnostic and on-going care to children with a diverse range of respiratory conditions including cystic fibrosis, non CF bronchiectasis, severe asthma, empyema, tuberculosis, sleep disordered breathing, respiratory failure secondary to respiratory muscle weakness etc.

RCHT has a level 2 Neonatal service (LNU), functioning within the South West Neonatal Operational Delivery Network.  We offer full care for infants >27 weeks gestation, short term intensive care for term infants and initiation of therapeutic hypothermia. There has been substantial investment into the service recently with a new (May 2017) Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. RCHT also offers comprehensive General Paediatrics, with 14 consultants who treat approximately 1000 elective and 6000 emergency admissions per year and a range of sub-specialist clinics are offered in conjunction with the visiting tertiary specialists from Bristol Children’s Hospital.

It would be essential to be on the GMC Specialist Register for this post. Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full time for personal reasons or those wishing to job-share.

Informal enquiries regarding this post should be addressed to Matt Thorpe, Transformation Lead and Consultant Paediatrician or Sian Harris, Specialty Lead and Consultant Paediatrician, on 01872 252716.
