The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital is looking for a forward thinking Associate Medical Director, to support the Medical Director and wider management team in the delivery of our strategy and business plan.

The Associate Medical Director will support the Medical Director in guiding the organisation to facilitate service and policy developments whilst at all times ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and acting as a champion for the national health policy.

We are looking to appoint a strong communicator who can handle risk and ambiguity and bring intellect and insight to complex services within the context of a wider healthcare economy. You will be able to develop relationships quickly and effectively while being politically astute.

The post holder will be fundamental in promoting organisational efficiency and clinical productivity, demonstrating cost effectiveness and return on investment. You will be required to help lead and promote a culture in which all staff constantly evaluate the quality of patient care and strive to achieve high standards, while being confident and feeling safe to challenge and raise concerns on practice.

The Associate Medical Director role has a responsibility for ensuring the skill-mix in the medical workforce for their assigned areas and for ensuring patient safety by overseeing the organisations ability to manage specific pathways effectively. Key to your success will be the ability to support and enable medical managers to play a full and effective role throughout the organisation.

This appointment will require a current GMC registration and license to practice and also inclusion on the specialist register in any speciality provided by the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital.

It is anticipated that the successful candidate will divide their time between medical leadership and clinical delivery within their specialism.

Remuneration – Consultant Terms and Conditions with 4 PAs allocated to leadership work and a responsibility allowance.
