South Tees Hospitals is one of the largest NHS Foundation Trusts in England. James Cook University Hospital is a modern tertiary centre with virtually all clinical services on site, being a major trauma, vascular and regional cancer centre. The radiologists are hardworking and have good interpersonal relationships with each other, clinical colleagues and all members of staff.
Due to retirement and continued investment in the department several vacancies have become available. Applicants from all specialties are welcomed, in particular: interventional radiology, paediatric radiology, uroradiology, neuroradiology and oncological radiology.
Emphasis is placed on a healthy work life balance with flexible working, home reporting and a favourable financial package, including the opportunity for insourcing.
The radiology provision includes general and neuroradiology at James Cook and the department at the Friarage hospital, Northallerton. The combined imaging facilities consist of four 128 slice CT, and two 3T and three 1.5T MRI scanners, most of which have been replaced within the last couple of years. There is also an onsite PET-CT, eight ultrasound rooms, four fluoroscopy rooms, a hybrid endovascular suite and dual planar neuroradiology suite.
The standard of living in the North East is high. The North Yorkshire Moors National Park is less than ten miles from the hospital and the coast only fifteen. There are many lovely villages and market towns within a sensible commuting distance, and house prices remain favourable compared to the national average. There is good state education and several high performing local private schools.
