Our Purpose

The Canterbury District Health Board systematically plan, fund and deliver care to almost 600,000 New Zealanders that live in the Canterbury region. The Canterbury Health System is a world leader in the delivery of integrated health care. Our main focus is placing people (staff and patients alike) at the centre of everything we do.

The Team

Our Child Health Service provides a range of general and subspecialty paediatric services at Christchurch Hospital and via outreach across the South Island. Tertiary level units in neonatology, oncology and paediatric surgery are based at Christchurch Hospital.

Christchurch Hospital is a teaching hospital with students from the University of Otago, Christchurch; hence the paediatric department has an active teaching programme both at undergraduate and post graduate level.

The Role

Child Health at Christchurch Hospital is looking for a full-time permanent Community Paediatrician to join a dedicated team of Paediatricians committed to providing an excellent service to the 110,000 children and young people within the Canterbury and West Coast regions.

In this role you will contribute to programme and service development for our population of children and also provide direct clinical care for children.

To be considered for this role you will need to be eligible to gain registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
