This post provides an excellent opportunity to work on the middle-grade rota alongside Severn Deanery trainees in a friendly district general hospital. The department is led by an extremely supportive consultant body who are strongly committed to providing a high level of training to all members of the team. A 1:8 on-call rota means that there is a good mix of exposure to acute and elective operating, time spent in outpatient clinics, and protected sessions to pursue audit and research projects which are actively encouraged.  Regular teaching, interview and exam practice is also provided within the department.

The post has justifiably gained a reputation as an ideal stepping stone for candidates who are seeking further experience before applying for the Specialty Training programme, and tailored support is provided to help prepare for this selection process.

Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is a modern hospital surrounded by stunning countryside with good transport links to cities such as Bath, Bristol, Exeter and is just over two hours from London, with a 40 minute drive to the coast.
