Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Learning Disability Division in this split role across two of our teams.
Willow Assessment and Treatment Unit is a challenging behaviour unit and was rated ‘outstanding’ in our recent CQC inspection. The consultant psychiatrist would be expected to take part in the multi-disciplinary meetings and to support the team in considering the holistic needs of the service users. The unit is based in the East of Southampton.
You would also spend part of your week with the East Hampshire Community Learning Disability Team where you would work with the existing consultant psychiatrist and speciality doctor to meet the mental health needs of the local learning disability population. The team is based in Fareham.
Our services are designed around six clinical pathways and locally we have a LD Hospital Liaison nurse and LD Community Forensic service. We also have a Hampshire wide Intensive Support Team.
There are established opportunities for the post holder to take part in research, teaching and service development. We routinely teach medical students from the University of Southampton. There are also opportunities for the post holder to take on medical leadership roles. Part time applicants and applicants from other psychiatric specialities will be considered.
Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest providers of mental health, specialist mental health and learning disability services in the UK.
