Applications are invited for the position of 2 general Consultant Anaesthetist and 1 with an Interest in Obstetrics Anaesthesia. This vacancy is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Consultant, to join a dynamic, rapidly expanding team delivering multidisciplinary acute care in our recently rated OUTSTANDING Trust.

St Helens & Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is now the only acute Trust in Cheshire and Merseyside, and is one of nine in the entire country, to achieve the title of OUTSTANDING, rated by the Care Quality Commission in August 2018.

St Helens & Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is located in Merseyside, which includes the great city of Liverpool, is within easy reach of North Wales, the Lake District and the Peak District and provides an interesting mix of rural and urban life. Liverpool is a vibrant, musical city which has undergone a renaissance in recent years and has recently been named European City of Culture. The anaesthetic team currently has 40 consultants, supported by an associate specialist, 5 specialty grade doctors, and 15 specialist trainees.

The Trust’s new Hospitals in Whiston and St Helens are part of a significant investment programme to provide world class healthcare facilities to the local community.

The Trust has excellent management, robust systems and innovative processes all of which have underpinned a period of sustained and improved performance.

The posts are full time appointments (10.0 PAs) with 8.0 PAs of Direct Clinical Care, 1.5 PAs of which are out-of-hours, and 2.0 for Supporting Professional Activity.

Applicants must possess full GMC registration and be on the Specialty Register or be within 6 months of achieving their CCT from date of Interview.

These posts will be subject to an Enhanced DBS (with barred list for vulnerable adults and children) disclosure.
