Trust Doctor ST1/2 in Emergency Medicine
Applications are invited for Trust Doctor (ST1/2) post in Emergency Medicine at Peterborough City Hospital commencing as soon as possible, initially for 12 months with a possible extension.
Peterborough City Hospital opened in December 2010 and hosted our College of Emergency Medicine, MCEM Part C, exam in April 2013. It offers excellent working relationships within the department and with pre-hospital and in-hospital teams, and a friendly supportive atmosphere. We run our own in house ALS, APLS, ATLS, NLS, HMIMMS and excel in teaching and training of our junior doctors.
The appointee will become part of a friendly, busy, forward thinking department as well as part of a team, which currently offers multiple interests including Trauma, Organ donation, Stroke, Pre hospital care, Education, and Toxicology.
The Emergency Department has a large (6 bay) resuscitation room, a 24-bedded major area, a well-equipped minor area with a separate Children’s area. The department sees over 100,000 patients per year covering both rural and inner city areas. It is a designated Trauma Unit within the East of England Trauma Network with close links to the regional Major Trauma Centre.
The department medical staff consists of eleven (Ten whole time equivalent) consultants, nine (ST4 and above) registrars and twelve middle tier doctors (CT3 and clinical fellow level) with senior cover throughout the night. We operate 17 junior tier rota with a combination of CT1/2, F2 and Clinical Fellows and this is the rota which you will be joining. We welcome and support applicants who are looking to fulfil College of Emergency Medicine curriculum competencies / experience before embarking on Specialist Training career, and will actively assist applications to training programmes in Emergency Medicine.
Locally, picturesque villages and bustling market towns surround Peterborough with excellent schools and a varied countryside. The city has excellent road and inter-city rail links with easy access to London and other major cities.
