We are looking for a Specialty Doctor to join our vibrant Department of Anaesthetics and Critical Care. The contract is in line with NHS terms and conditions and will be for 12 PA’s per week. This will include one SPA and time for pre-op and post-op visits.


You must hold Full GMC registration with a licence to practice or be in the final stages of the GMC registration process at time of applying for this vacancy.


For candidates who reside abroad you must have completed the necessary IELTS / OET and/ or PLAB 2 before applying to us.  You must be able to satisfy the language test requirements for both GMC registration and UKVI remits.


We aim to provide a rewarding, varied work environment. The work covers a variety of services including theatre lists and out of hours care to Maternity, Theatres and ICU. The rota is a 1:7 full shift with two middle grade doctors resident on call, and a non-resident Consultant on-call. The Doctor should be comfortable working independently. There is usually scope for additional work if desired as the programmed working week is not onerous.


The department is relaxed, friendly and values work – life balance. There are 18 Consultants, 1 Associate Specialist, 13 Specialty Doctors & 5 Core Trainees from Bristol, 2 ITU / Teaching Fellows and 1 F1 Doctor.


We provide Anaesthetic services to Main Theatres, Day Surgery, Obstetrics, Intensive Care, and Acute Pain. Approx 18,000 operations are performed each year with 800 Critical Care admissions (approx. 200 level 3). There is good secretarial support. We actively encourage personal and professional development. Informal enquiries or visits are welcomed.
