We are seeking to employ a full time paediatric Trust Grade ST1 doctor from 29th May, 2019, for a period of 12 months. This post provides an excellent opportunity to gain paediatric and neonatal experience in in-patient, out-patient, and Emergency Department settings. The successful candidate will take part in a 1 in 10 first on call, EWTD, new contract, compliant, full shift rota with 9 other ST1/F2 and ST2 staff. The rota will become 1 in 11 from August 2019.

The Paediatric Directorate prides itself on being a friendly, caring and supportive team within the Medical Care Group with an active Audit and Clinical Governance Structure. The Trust was scored OUTSTANDING at its last CQC inspection in August 2018 and Paediatrics consistently scores over 95% on the Friends and Family Test.

Two paediatric wards accommodate both general paediatric/surgical inpatients and day case surgery in 29 beds, including a 2 bed HDU unit. There is also a Children’s Observation Ward with 8 beds, a Paediatric Phlebotomy Service and the Hospital at Home Nursing Team which offers outreach care for children stable enough to be cared for in their own homes. The Neonatal Unit with 15 special care cots supports the Maternity Unit with over 4,000 deliveries per year.

There are active postgraduate and undergraduate teaching programmes with medical students attending regularly from Liverpool University. There are close links to the Tertiary Paediatric Centre at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, with joint specialty clinics held locally in Cystic Fibrosis, Neurology and Epilepsy.
