Anaesthesia Quality Improvement Fellow (MC46)
We are always looking for enterprising and innovative approaches to the way we provide our services. We are a national centre for telemedicine and introduced telehealth to the UK offender healthcare sector and also provide the service to patients in their care homes. Community matters to us and we are supported by 400 dedicated volunteers and have strong links with Bradford University, Craven College and Leeds City College to ensure we inspire the workforce of the future.
We want to attract staff who embrace our ‘Right Care’ behaviours of compassion, a commitment to quality of care and working together for patients – we want to make these part of our DNA.
This is an exciting new post which combines a clinical role in a friendly and high-performing Anaesthetic Department together with a role as a Quality Improvement Fellow. Fellow work will involve delivering a perioperative quality improvement project whilst receiving education and training in quality improvement in order to gain bronze and then silver level QI certification.
The post is full time and ideally aimed at doctors with a minimum of 2 years anaesthetic experience. Doctors with less experience will be considered provided they have obtained initial competencies in Anaesthesia and Critical Care. The post is suitable for doctors taking a year out from training, particularly those who wish to gain the Primary or final FRCA, or existing specialty doctors wishing to extend their skills and take on new roles. The responsibilities of the post will reflect the previous experience of the post-holder.
A minimum of 1 day/ week (when not on nights) of the post holder’s time will be spent developing and delivering a quality improvement project. We welcome new ideas for quality improvement from post holders, or doctors can join one of our existing work streams. Airedale offers some unique opportunities due to its leading status in innovation e.g. using telemedicine to support perioperative pathways. For doctors wishing to gain the primary FRCA full participation in our departmental examination programme will be offered. For those wanting to gain the final FRCA we offer a programme of support for MCQ, SAQ and VIVA practice.
The post is a fixed term contract for 12 months but could be extended if mutually agreeable. The post is full-time but applicants wishing to work less than full-time will be considered.
12 PA as well as 10 PA job plans are available on negotiation (48 hr week on average). The successful applicant will be assigned a clinical and educational supervisor.
