Consultant Cardiologist PPCI
The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust is one of the largest acute Trusts in the West Midlands. The purpose-built Heart and Lung Centre, which opened in October 2004, is one of four tertiary Cardiothoracic Units in the region.
We provide a 24/7 tertiary primary angioplasty service for patients with ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) for the population of Wolverhampton, Walsall, Dudley, parts of Staffordshire, Shropshire and North Wales. We are looking to expand our consultant body and wish to recruit a skilled interventional cardiologist to join our team. The PCI team will be made up of a total of 10 intervenionists, of which you would be one, and includes 4 colleagues from neighbouring Trusts. There will be a total of 14 cardiology consultants based at New Cross Hospital with one week in 14 spent as the consultant on-call for the cardiology ward.
We have a skilled Cardiac Assessment Team who in liaison with the consultant on-call ensure that our NSTEMI pathway works in line with best practice so that patients are transferred from our feeder hospitals in a timely manner.
The successful applicant who, should be on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT date and will be part of the 1:10 24/7 emergency PCI rota and 1:14 cardiology ward weekday on-call rota.
