Applications are invited for an appointment as an NIHR Clinical Lecturer (CL) on the Specialty Training Programme in Neurosurgery.

The research component of the post will be based within the Barts Brain Tumour Centre. The CL is expected to develop a translational research programme in neuro-oncology that integrates with fundamental research taking place at the Blizard Institute at Queen Mary University of London. We particularly encourage candidates with significant laboratory-based research experience who would be interested and have the skills to develop a research programme aimed at understanding mechanisms of brain tumourigenesis and/or the development of mechanism-based novel preclinical to clinical studies to treat brain tumours.

The appointee will be expected to continue higher specialist training in neurosurgery during this post by spending 50% of their time (arranged flexibly to suit their research needs) as a supernumerary trainee in the department of neurosurgery at the Royal London Hospital.

The post is only open to trainees who have completed a relevant higher degree i.e. (PhD/MD). You must have submitted your thesis by the closing date of application and been awarded your higher degree by the post start date. An Academic National Training Number (ANTN) is available for this placement if required. This is for completion of CCT/ CESR (CP) subject to satisfactory progression.

Informal enquiries should be addressed to Mr Edward McKintosh, Edward.Mckintosh@bartshealth.nhs.uk or Prof Silvia Marino,
