Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Cardiac Surgeon.  This post is a whole time, replacement post. We are seeking an experienced cardiac surgeon with a specialist interest in aortic, mitral, and/or minimal access surgery.

The appointee will be responsible for provision of care, at consultant level, to Cardiac Surgical inpatients, outpatients, and patients undergoing cardiac surgery, including pre-procedural evaluation and post procedural care.

The appointee will participate in, and lead ward rounds, out-patient clinics, cardiac surgical procedures, will actively contribute to multi-disciplinary team working and participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings and the on-call rotas for cardiac surgery.  The appointee will provide innovation and leadership in the further development of the cardiac surgical programme. 

Applicants are required to be fully registered Medical Practitioners and must be on the GMC’s Specialist Register and should have specialist registration in Cardiac Surgery, or within six months of award of CCT or equivalent by date of interview.
