This is a valuable opportunity to join our dynamic and expanding team of medical consultants as a Consultant Rheumatologist and physician. You will be based between the Rheumatology and the Acute Medical departments and your work will be divided into 5 PA Rheumatology and 5 PA General and Acute Medicine on an agreed timetable with the main base for work at St. Peter’s Hospital and outpatient clinics across both Ashford and St Peter’s sites. The post is full time substantive. The successful candidate will work alongside fellow Rheumatologists and General and Acute medical Physicians to provide a high quality comprehensive medical service with outpatient clinics in Rheumatology. The post holder will contribute to all aspects of Rheumatology work including involvement in departmental meetings, teaching and supervising registrars and helping with audit and research within rheumatology and supporting specialist nurses. Acute General Medicine commitments will involve both ward cover, on call and acute medical commitments and will facilitate successful revalidation.
Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust serves a population of approximately 450,000 from North-West Surrey and outer London. There are 413 beds in a range of specialties, including medicine, surgery, obstetrics and paediatrics. There is a full range of imaging services including CT, bone density and MRI scanning and access to Nuclear medicine and PET scanning. ASPH is working towards being a Major Emergency Centre, strengthening our stroke, cardiology and interventional radiology services.
The Trust has strong links with Imperial College School of Medicine, St George’s Hospital Medical School and Royal Holloway and Surrey Universities and has regular firms of students from each of the medical schools. We encourage research and there is a wide range of research trials running within Rheumatology. The Trust is situated in Surrey providing a variety of attractive places to live and yet is in close proximity to London with excellent transport links.
Applicants must be holders of a CCT in General Internal Medicine and Rheumatology or within 6 months of obtaining such CCT.
