for the Kent and Medway Forensic CAMHS service
Specialist child and adolescent mental health services for high risk young people with complex needs are required for a specific cohort of children and young people with a range of multiple severe and persistent needs. Such individuals are often a risk to others or themselves”
In order to meet the needs of this population new Forensic CAMHS Services have been commissioned. These services will be integrated within the local CAMHS teams and work closely with children’s services from across the sectors including social care, youth offending and education.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new multi-disciplinary Forensic CAMHS service.
We are looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our newly formed Forensic CAMHS Service (FCAMHS) in Kent and Medway. The service is part of a national rollout and will deliver services to young people, and the families of young people, who present risk to themselves and/or others, who often have complex needs. Working closely with the wider system the service will proactively deliver consultation, liaison and teaching alongside direct assessment and intervention.
The wider, South East Region’s service will be hosted by Sussex Partnership Foundation Trust, with services delivered locally in 1) Kent and Medway, 2) Surrey and 3) Sussex.
Across this area there will be three newly formed teams working closely together in a single professional network, to share knowledge and experience and provide supervision and support. Each area will accept and work with their own referrals supported by a central administrative function and close clinical networks.
Within Kent and Medway we need a total of 0.4 wte (4 PA’s) Consultant Psychiatrist to work in our multi-disciplinary team alongside specialist CAMHS colleagues.
The consultant will be supported by a peer network across Kent, Surrey and Sussex, and clinical forensic and multi-disciplinary connection will be in place across Kent, Surrey and Sussex.
The team is peripatetic, with IT systems to support working flexibly across the county.
