Consultant Paediatric Palliative Medicine
This is a new full-time (10PA) post contributing to the further development of an integrated Paediatric Supportive and Palliative Care service for children with life limiting and life threatening conditions within the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow.
The post is funded by Children’s Hospices across Scotland (CHAS) as part of its ongoing collaboration with NHSGGC to further improve palliative and end of life care for babies, children and young people in the West of Scotland. The post holder will form part of the Symptom and Palliative Care service delivering specialist Paediatric Palliative Medicine for the increasing numbers of babies, children and young people (BCYP) with life limiting and life threatening conditions cared for by many specialist teams within the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow. In addition the successful candidate will have a close working relationship with the children’s hospice services within Scotland and with other charitable organisations, such as Child Bereavement UK, which provides services to BCYP and staff within NHSGGC.
The post holder will be expected to contribute to the strategic development of the Paediatric Supportive and Palliative Care service and lead the development of PPM training, education and research locally and throughout Scotland.
