Integrated Care of Older People (ICOPE) – join us to build the best Frailty service in the Midlands

Worcestershire’s Integrated Care of Older People (ICOPE) programme is already helping us to improve the care we provide for older people. Our aim is to develop seamless patient pathways, identify and implement best practice and build a service which stands as a national and international exemplar of person-centred care.  Significant investment is being made across Worcestershire to improve care for older patients in the community and in the acute setting.

Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust (WAHT) and Worcestershire Health and Care Trust (WHCT) are working in partnership with colleagues in primary, community and social care, and with patients and carers, to contribute to the very best outcomes for older people living with frailty in the many communities we serve.

WAHT and WHCT are now able to offer roles for geriatricians which are acute-specific, community-based or which amalgamate these two care environments in a joint appointment.

We are keen to hear from senior clinicians and those just starting out. We can work with you to develop your area of special interest and opportunities for developing leadership roles are a priority.

We also have strong links with the University of Worcester with its Association for Dementia Studies. A new medical school is planned for 2020 to train graduate students with a curriculum emphasis on primary care, long term conditions and rurality. This will offer opportunities for consultants wishing to do some work in an academic setting.

Worcestershire is a great place to live and work, offering the many attractions of rural living with excellent transport links, high quality schools and well developed leisure facilities.
