King’s College Hospital NHSFT is looking to recruit up to 6 consultants in Emergency Medicine who will be based at its Denmark Hill site.

King’s College Hospital is the Major Trauma Centre for SE London, Kent and Medway supported by our Helipad, a Cardiac Arrest Centre, Arrhythmia Centre and a Hyper-Acute Stroke Unit. The resuscitation area can accommodate up to 10 patients and a CT scanner is co-located adjacent to the ED. We have opened a new layout to facilitate assessment of ambulance arrivals and ambulatory patients in separate areas with their own allocated teams. These assessment areas continue to be supported by a 15 cubicle majors area and CDU comprising beds and chairs. We have an integrated, co-located Urgent Care Centre. Our Paediatric Emergency Department has also undergone a recent renovation and is supported by a paediatric CDU.

As such we are looking for enthusiastic Emergency Medicine Consultants with expertise in all aspects of Emergency Care. You will be responsible, along with the other consultants, for maintaining and developing the high standard of care we provide to our patients.

We work an annualised rota across the consultant team with self rostering. These new posts will contribute to the out of hours Consultant rota for the Emergency Department. Our major trauma team leadership 24 hour resident rota at KCH is currently under review. The outcomes of that review are not finalised at this time, but we expect that new colleagues will take part in major trauma team leadership.
