Consultant Respiratory Physician
- Full Time
Applications are invited for a Consultant Physician in Respiratory Medicine.
This is an exciting opportunity for an applicant to join an enthusiastic, supportive and dedicated team of 5.7 existing consultants on the Worcestershire Royal site. This is a replacement post following a colleague’s retirement.
The successful candidate will be committed to provide excellent clinical care and to work as part of a larger countywide team (currently of 8.9 consultants) providing the best Respiratory Medicine services we can to the Worcestershire population.
We welcome applications from high quality candidates with any sub-specialist interest and there is ample opportunity to develop new specialist services and contribute to those that already exist within the department.
The post attracts 11 PAs, including 1 PA for out of hours general medical on-call and weekend respiratory ward rounds.
The department of respiratory medicine at Worcestershire Royal Hospital has a progressive ethos. Existing sub-specialist clinics include asthma and allergy, COPD, ILD, pleural disease, pulmonary nodules and sleep medicine. Worcestershire is served by a dynamic community COPD team who provide in-reach and good access to pulmonary rehabilitation at multiple locations across the county. There is an allergy testing and desensitisation service. Lung cancer patients are seen in dedicated 2 week wait clinics. There is a new cancer centre on the Worcestershire Royal site allowing most cancer treatments now to be delivered locally. We have close links to the Universities of Worcester and Birmingham and are actively recruiting to national clinical trials. Proposals for a new medical school in Worcester are advancing and applicants with an interest in teaching and or research are therefore particularly welcomed.
Enquiries and informal visits can be arranged through Jayne Burford, PA to Dr Clare Hooper, Consultant Respiratory Physician on 01905 733410. Email email@example.com
