Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon with an interest in Head and Neck Surgery and Microvascular Reconstruction
Applications are invited for full time Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with a specialist interest in head and neck surgery and microvascular reconstruction. We are looking to recruit a proactive and motivated colleague to join a well-established, enthusiastic head and neck oncology team.
This post is a replacement post for an existing locum position and will support the continued development of the successful individual. The post will include management of patients with cutaneous malignancies and general maxillofacial surgery. The post will include an on-call commitment of 1:6 general on call and 1:3 microvascular cover, with prospective cover for annual and study leave. Opportunities exist to include non-clinical roles to support the work of the department for appropriate applicant. The post is based at Worcestershire Royal Hospital where acute services and inpatient facilities are centered, and will include multi-site working as part of a two county service (Herefordshire and Worcestershire).
Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust serves a population of
approximately 570,000. It employs 6,000 staff and comprises of three hospitals located at Worcester, Kidderminster and Redditch. The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery service covers the counties of Worcestershire and Herefordshire, giving an extended population base of 800,000.
The Oral and Maxillofacial Department is staffed by six Consultants in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, three Consultant Orthodontists, and there are close links with ENT, Dermatology and Clinical Oncology/Radiotherapy at the Worcestershire Oncology Centre.
The department’s activities are supported by an on-site maxillofacial
laboratory which offers a wide range of prosthetic and reconstructive expertise and also provides on call technical assistance. We are a training unit for both OMFS Speciality Registrars and Dental Core Trainees have enjoyed very positive feedback from our trainees over an extended period.
Worcestershire is a beautiful county, with a thriving hub and stunning recreational facilities, offering culture, music and an expanse of new housing developments and top rated schools. It is an excellent location to live and work, located centrally to the heart of England with easy access to Birmingham, Gloucester, Cheltenham and good transport links to London and the North and both Worcester and Redditch enjoy good connections
by road and rail to Birmingham, Wales, the South West and London.
