Consultant Psychiatrist –
Lambeth Home Treatment team and Mobile Crisis Response
(10 PA’s Substantive)

South London and Maudsley is committed to providing high quality integrated health and social care for local people with mental health problems in South East London, and specialist mental health serves for people throughout the UK. This full time post will provide joint leadership and consultant psychiatrist input to the Lambeth Home Treatment Team (HTT) and Mobile Crisis Response Team.

Lambeth HTT is a well-established team, providing intensive daily support at home to known service users in crisis, who are aged 18-65 and living in the borough of Lambeth, aiming to where possible avoid hospital admission. The team also proactively in-reach to Lambeth hospital inpatient wards to facilitate early discharge. The Mobile Crisis Response (MCR) is a new 7-day service, initially open until 10pm (dependant on need), that provides crisis support for people who are new to services or not currently active, and sits alongside the existing home treatment team. The MCR service provides an on the day (within 4 hours) trusted crisis assessment, aiming to avoid unnecessary emergency department attendance.

This post will be an exciting opportunity to be part of the Lambeth Living Well Network Alliance, an innovative project to bring together those who use services, commissioners and providers to design, develop and deliver a new model of adult mental health services. Our partners in the Alliance include third sector organisations Certitude and Thames Reach, Lambeth Council and Lambeth Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG). We are looking for a dynamic individual who is an excellent clinician in acute general adult psychiatry, an enthusiastic teacher, someone who is passionate about improving services, and a strong leader.
