Applications are invited for a Consultant Cellular Pathologist to join our committed and enthusiastic team in supporting the Cellular Pathology department in Leicester. The position will be based at the Leicester Royal Infirmary site. It is expected that the post holder will have a major component of gastrointestinal pathology with other specialties to complement the needs of the department. Other specialties included in the role will be subject to service requirement, discussion and agreement.

You will work with colleagues within the Cellular Pathology Department to ensure provision of a high-quality Pathology service in University Hospitals of Leicester. Responsibilities will include cut-up and reporting of large GI and hepatopancreaticobiliary resections and taking part in multidisciplinary team meetings. There is no on call commitment in this role. You will be expected to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching (including supervision, training, assessment and appraisal of specialist registrars and biomedical scientists), clinical audit, research and development. You will work within a multidisciplinary team and may also be required to undertake management duties.

The appointment is whole time. Any consultant who is unable for personal reasons to work whole time will be eligible to be considered for the post. If such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis in consultation with consultant colleagues. Membership of the Royal College of Pathologists, and full GMC registration with a license to practice is a requirement.

The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust consists of three acute teaching hospitals serving the population of Leicestershire. It is fully committed to Continuing Medical Education for Consultants.
